SWAG视频received a grant from the Truist Foundation to provide a month-long rotation for fourth-year medical students who plan to practice primary care medicine and who have demonstrated prior experience working with populations whose healthcare needs are underserved.
Ten students each from Virginia, Carolinas and Auburn campuses were selected to participate in The Truist Internship Program which creates positive exposures for medical student interns to work and train in medically and economically underserved areas. The long-term goal of the program is to address access to healthcare and increase economic mobility in rural and urban medically underserved areas. A key objective of the internship program is to make students aware of programs and opportunities in the communities where they would serve as future physicians.
