Research Interests
My lab focuses on two key areas of research: 1) understanding how poxviruses co-opt ribosomal proteins to promote viral protein synthesis while subverting the innate immune response; and 2) developing a three-dimensional human skin equivalent cell culture model to investigate poxvirus infection in a more biologically relevant context. My long-term goal is to scale up my research group by exploring new areas of research, acquiring a steady stream of extramural funding, establish a pipeline of training students interested in research, and cultivate an interest in biological sciences in the northeast Louisiana Delta region.
