Summer Enrichment Experience for Youth

The Summer Enrichment Experience (SEE) program is designed to promote science and medicine to area high school students. In so doing, we hope not only to encourage these students to pursue careers in science and medicine but also to gain an appreciation of behaviors that are fundamental to healthy lifestyles.

We are seeking rising high school sophomores through rising high school seniors (10th – 12th grade) who have a strong interest in healthcare fields to participate in the SEE program.

SEE activities, which are under the direction of faculty and medical students, include the following (please allow for some yearly variation in programming):

  • Interactive lectures
  • “Anatomy Jeopardy”
  • Cadaver work in our anatomy lab
  • Performance of basic medical techniques and procedures on real patients (yourselves!) or with our state-of-the-art simulation models
  • Guidance for establishing a career in science and medicine
  • Fun activities with a focus on science and medicine

See below for our program offerings held at our Blacksburg, VA, and Spartanburg, SC campuses.
