Osteopathic Leadership Advocacy Day was held on September 10, with leaders from the profession – including Ron Januchowski, DO, VCOM-Carolinas Associate Dean for Curriculum, Assessment and Medical Education and VCOM-Carolinas students Anna Green (Class of 2022), Annie Nguyen (Class of 2023) and Meg Ray (Class of 2023) – meeting remotely with 125 congressional offices from 31 states. The purpose of the event, organized by the American Osteopathic Association (AOA), was to lobby Congress on three proposed healthcare bills.

The Bluefield College Board of Trustees voted this month to further align Bluefield College with the Edward Via College of Osteopathic Medicine (VCOM) family of schools by joining its education consortium. VCOM-Virginia had the honor and privilege to host Hilda Hutcherson, MD, as a part of the annual William G. Anderson Black History Month Speaker Series. A native of Tuskegee, Alabama, Dr. Hutcherson studied Biology at Stanford University. She received her medical training from Harvard Medical School and performed her medical internship at the University of California in San Francisco. She then completed her residency in obstetrics and gynecology at Columbia University Medical Center in New York.
