Psychiatry and Neuro-Behavioral Sciences

We are fortunate to be part of a revolutionary age in medicine, particularly osteopathic medicine, in which we further our knowledge of not only the origins of diseases but the complexity of humans. Although we understand more about the physiology and chemistry of the brain than ever before, we increasingly recognize it as a never-ending frontier of medical research and discovery.

Neuropsychiatry serves a crucial role in healthcare. As a discipline, it is our mission to improve healthcare in general and especially to strive for improvement of mental healthcare, which often plays a vital role in the overall functioning of the patient. We encourage this mission through increasing community awareness, support of continuing education and practice initiatives for our diverse clinical faculty, and, most importantly, by passing on our passion for discovery and knowledge to future generations of osteopathic physicians.

VCOM’s experienced faculty members are leaders in the mental health field from diverse backgrounds and skills. Faculty are actively engaged in clinical practice as well as teaching and are uniquely dedicated to the concept of education in medicine. Many are researchers and have made significant contributions to the profession and the scientific understanding of psychiatric conditions.
