The discipline of Pathology and Histology at SWAGÊÓƵteaches students about the causes and effects of disease, providing an understanding of the disease process at the molecular, cellular, tissue, and organismal level.
Pathology and histology courses are focused on the study of structural and functional changes in tissues and organs that result from disease processes. Our faculty also educate medical students on relevant topics such as etiology (the cause of a disease or condition) and pathogenesis (the manner of development of a disease), as well as clinical and laboratory manifestations of disease. Courses are offered in a unique format with student-directed online modules based on clinical cases. Faculty offer periodic classroom reviews to highlight the most important pathologic features of each case for exam reviews.
